The PGDipArts will normally consist of 120 points at 400 level. It is intended primarily for students who are interested in doing advanced study in Humanities and Social Science subjects at 400 level but are not intending to complete the 489 Research Essay (or alternative research component).

Admission to the PGDipArts normally requires a Bachelor's degree with a major in the same discipline.

The programme is designed to provide an up to date account of approaches to teaching English as a second/ foreign language by examining both relevant theory and best practice. The PGDipLT provides a professional qualification for teachers wishing to specialise in teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language or in teaching other languages. It is suitable for both teachers in New Zealand and overseas. 

Students who have completed the Postgraduate Diploma are eligible to enrol for the one year Master of Arts.
